Mason Alexander Takes on Ireland’s Fittest Company Challenge

Mason Alexander registered to take on Ireland’s Fittest Company 5km Challenge. With a professional rugby player, a professional tennis player & a professional cricket player amongst our team of staff – we figured our chances of victory would be pretty high.
We strategically planned our team of runners and nothing was going to stop us, not even the torrential rain!
We are a highly competitive team here at Mason Alexander and our only struggle was deciding as to who would take on the most challenging part of the race, the big 5km, as everyone wanted to try it!
Associate Director, Eoin Connolly took on the 5km leg of the challenge, joined by Researcher Bobby at the 4km mark. Intern Hugo whizzed around to join them at the 3km mark followed by Researcher, Jane & Recruiter, Katie at the 2 km& 1km marks.
We had Office Manager, Jenny & Senior Consultant, Maria as cheerleaders on hand for support, provision of Fulfill Bars and of course – in charge of Boomerangs.
It was a great moment to watch all the teams finish together hand in hand as they crossed the finish line. We were delighted with our group 5km total time of 25.20. Unfortunately no trophies for the Mason Alexander team on this occasion. Well done to the winning teams on the day.
A very well run event and we look forward to taking part next year (hopefully in warmer weather!). A highly recommended challenge for team bonding!
It can sometimes be hard to find time to take a break and pull yourself away from your desk at work. Sometimes the best thing for you is some fresh air! It is great to see the whole team come together as one and we are proud to have taken on the challenge.

Great news from TechIreland! Irish tech start-ups raised nearly €400M in Q2 2024, the best performance since Q2 2022. This is a huge jump from €169M in Q1 and surpasses the €323M raised in the same period last year. In total, €552M was secured by 147 companies in the first half of 2024 🚀
Key highlights:
💡 Series B rounds saw €275M raised by six companies.
💡 Record-breaking growth rounds with major deals for SyOx Therapeutics (€70.3M), Accounts IQ (€60M), GridBeyond (€52 million), Tines (€45 million), and XOcean (€45 million).
💡 Dublin-based companies led with 67% of the total funding.

Ireland's Pharma and Medical industry has bounced back in recent months with a 21% increase in exports this May compared to last year. Major players like Boston Scientific and Thermo Fisher are raising their profit forecasts, due to the growing demand for heart devices and non-urgent surgeries that were postponed during the pandemic 👩🏻⚕️
Boston Scientific announced last year that it would create 400 new jobs in Clonmel and invest €80m in expanding its manufacturing and R&D capabilities. Meanwhile, Thermo Fisher Scientific reported better-than-expected Q2 profits, bolstered by demand for its clinical trial tools and services 📈

Great news for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics, the largest employer in East Clare and among the largest in the county, with their announcement of a €10 million investment that underscores their commitment to innovation and growth in the region 👏🏼
The investment will enhance Beckman Coulter’s world-class diagnostics production with the addition of two new fully automated reagent filling lines and upgrades to the site’s infrastructure, boosting both efficiency and capacity.
Beckman Coulter’s economic contribution is highly significant to East Clare and the wider Mid-West region thanks to the 550 plus jobs it provides in its facility. Employment at the site is anticipated to rise to 600 jobs, with headcount figures having almost doubled since 2018 📈

Very positive news for the Pharma sector as the value of Irish exports has grown from €6.2 billion to €72.4 billion in the first four months of 2024. CSO figures show exports of medical and pharmaceutical products increased by €3.5 billion (66%) to €8.8 billion in April alone 📈💊
This rebound in Pharma activity is very encouraging given the concerns of a slump last year due to a collapse in demand for Covid vaccines and medications – triggering a downturn in Irish Pharma exports.
This recovery signifies a notable turnaround, demonstrating the resilience and adaptability of the Irish pharmaceutical industry 👏🏼
