Since joining Mason Alexander, Claire Prendiville has made a huge impression upon her colleagues, clients and candidates. Claire is an Associate Consultant, specialising in Senior Appointments. We caught up with her to find out a bit about her background and what the Senior Appointments Market in Dublin is like today.

Where are you from?

I grew up in Waterford City but now I live in Dublin.

How did you get into recruitment?

I went to a recruitment firm to be put forward for another role when they suggested that I might be a good fit in recruitment!

What do you do at MA?

I work alongside my colleague Susan in Senior Appointments.

What did you want to do as a kid growing up?

I wanted to be a chef like my mother- which is hilarious because I am a terrible cook!

What’s the worst job you’ve ever had? Or What job would you be really bad at?

I worked washing dishes for a summer – It taught me a lot about hard work but it wasn’t for me!

What attracted you to MA?

It was recommended to me by an ex-colleague who spoke very highly of MA.

What does a typical day at work / or work week look like for you?

It varies from day to day, I spend time researching, meeting with candidates, market mapping, scheduling interviews and organizing events.

What’s the best way to start the day?

With a strong cup of coffee

Any tips for people looking for a new job?

Exhaust your network- meet with as many people as possible!

What is your market like at the moment?

My market is busy at the moment. I specialise in recruiting senior financial professionals, focusing on industry. Anything at the more senior level tends to be quieter but the market is strong at the moment.

What’s the best thing about working at MA?

There is no hierarchal feel within MA. Everyone’s opinion is important.

Would you recommend MA to a friend?

Absolutely, the support in MA is second to none.

What’s one thing that’s coming up in 2019 that you’re excited about?

I am heading to Thailand for a month and I couldn’t be more excited.

Who inspires you?

My Mum, she is incredibly hardworking and has been a constant support.

What is the best advice you have ever received?

Nothing is permanent so make the most of every opportunity!
